A letter from the founders
A few honest words on who we are, why we made this, and what we promise you.
Hello, and thank you for finding your way here.
We should start with an admission: we didn't set out to build an eyewear company. We just wanted glasses that helped our eyes. Between corporate jobs and building a business, we were on screens at least twelve hours a day. Our eyes couldn't manage. So we made a lens for the hour. Then another. Then four. We wanted to control which light reached our eyes, and we want to give you that control too. For your eyes, and for theirs.
The kids' range wasn't in the original plan. But being a mother, I was never going to stop at adults. Their eyes have to last a lot longer than ours do. I also know how painful it is to buy something new because your kid has grown out of the last one, and how expensive it gets by the time you add it all up. That's why the small frames have adjustable arms, and the same lenses we wear ourselves.
We'd be lying if we said we loved what was already out there. Most of what we tried felt gimmicky. Big claims, plastic, nothing we'd actually wear out of the house. Not stylish enough for our liking, if we're honest. We did try them outside on one of our travels, but we felt weird wearing them. We didn't feel confident, sexy, and empowered. We didn't feel like us. So we decided to make our own: glasses that do the job properly and still look like glasses you'd choose.
We travelled with sunglasses for years without thinking about it. Then it clicked that they don't target the blue band that matters, so we stopped packing them. We now wear our Lemon Yellow, Amber Honey, or Blood Orange lenses, depending on what the sun is like.
Underneath it all, what we believe is simple. Your eyes are the one pair you get. You exercise without ever knowing which illness it prevented. You wear sunscreen without seeing the burn it stopped. This is that, for the hours of light you live in. Not fear, just a small daily investment in something irreplaceable.
We called our little community The Cult because it made us laugh, and because it is true enough: a small group of people who take light seriously before the rest of the world gets around to it.
